Hello everyone,
I hope you all had a great weekend! My weekend was refreshing, I hung out with a few friends, relaxed, and spent the rest of the weekend reflecting on my progression towards my goals that I set up for this year. Every couple months I think that it’s crucial to take time to yourself to see if you are still in line with your goals. If not, this is the time to get refocused and shift your mindset.
Life happens and it’s easy to become distracted, which can also create minor setbacks. Setbacks are not always a bad thing, it actually gives you the opportunity to self reflect in order to overcome obstacles and help you become a stronger individual. I recently went through something that took a lot of emotional energy out of me. At the time, I didn’t realize that I suppressed my feelings and out of nowhere it all hit me at once. I didn’t know what to do. At first I was overwhelmed with so many emotions because I knew the universe was telling me to slow down and deal with my pain that I had buried for that last couple months. I never suppressed my thoughts or feelings; I always dealt with whatever life threw at me (there’s a first time for everything). This was a very difficult/necessary process I had to go through, but I’m happy that I went through it because it taught me a lot about myself and gave me the clarity I needed to grow. I overcame this obstacle by giving myself permission to feel every emotion (without feeling guilty or sorry for myself), which included being angry, frustrated, sad, and happy at times.
My advice to everyone that goes through a tough situation such as a breakup, family issues, stress with work, school, death, ect. is to be aware of your feelings and deal with difficult situation that life throws at you. Never suppress your feelings, allow yourself to feel. Make every effort to see the good and learn from the experience to strengthen yourself.
On another note, is it just me or is time flying by? It’s crazy to think that it’s almost four months into the New Year. How are you progressing toward your goals? I hope the goal exchange process is helping you stay on track. With that being said, I want to share another tool with you all that is helping me stay on point with my goals and self-development growth. It’s called the Happiness Planner.
The Happiness Planner it not just an ordinary planner, it’s a powerful tool that helps one stay organized, focused, and happier by mastering the art of these four things:
Another thing that I like about having the happiness planner is that it has different categories that focus on all areas of your life followed by positive quotes that uplift your spirit each day. Having the Happiness Planner really helped me shift my mindset when I was going through a difficult time and it also helped me focus more on what’s important in life. I’m a firm believer that life is 10% what happens to you and 90% on how I react to it. Life is always going to throw you a curve ball (which recently happened to me), and it’s important to not let the temporary situation/feelings consume you or derail you from your goals. Remember that you are the captain of your ship and your life is in your hands.
How did you overcome a difficult situation that took a toll on your emotions?
