The day after Christmas, my girl Sheree and I chatted over the phone to discuss our 2016 goals that we had set out to accomplish for the year. At the beginning of 2016, we typed up goals to achieve for the year and decided to exchange our lists to hold each other accountable. As the year’s end got closer, I was anxious to discuss the goals we did and did not complete.
We went over my goal sheet first. Sheree went through each of my goals, she praised me for the goals that I accomplished, and held me accountable for the goals I didn’t accomplish by asking me questions like…
What kept you from accomplishing certain goals?
What are you going to do this year to either get you closer to accomplishing or successfully achieving your goals?
Should this goal be a short-term or long-term goal? (Be realisitic!)
I continue to celebrate New Year’s after New Year’s with this lovely dress from Chiccoutureonline
This year we are reconstructing our list by adding sub categories within the short-term and long-term goals. This will enhance structure and guidance with completing our goals.
By having an accountability partner, this helped me reach my goals more quickly; this is actually how Bloom was launched more quickly than expected. I knew I was going to launch it, but with Sheree in my ear I felt the pressure to not overthink anything and just do it. Exchanging lists allowed us to hold ourselves accountable, stay on track, and thrive towards our goals.
I asked Sheree what she got out of this exercise, and here’s what she said:
The goal exchange exercise really made me take a deeper look at myself: where my strong attributes are & what my weaknesses/fears are. It’s one thing to say you’re going to do something & it’s another when you actually revisit & have someone who’s going to hold you accountable outside of yourself. Not only is this a great for goal setting/accomplishments, but I think that it helps with personal development, as well. I now see the picture of myself painter clearer & will not only focus on my goals, but I can become better at executing them.
I wanted to share this information with you in hopes of this exercise helping you go towards and stay on track with your goals. If you decide to do the goal exchange make sure you pick a partner that you can be real with, can give and take constructive criticism, and someone that will call you out when you are making up excuses. This is the only way it will work!
To be more effective this year with my goals, I’m going to be using the purge and prune method developed by Marie Florleo. This method helps you achieve more with less stress and Lord knows I’m all about being stress free. This is a good way to prioritize your goals to put them in order on what needs to be taken care of in the next 12 months and take care of the other tasks off your list the following year. If you accomplish your goals that you put on your list for this year, you can always go back to your big list and take a few things off of that to complete.
Write down everything you want to accomplish, achieve, or experience. Break it down in sub categories. Example: Health & Fitness, Personal Development, Career/Business, Friends & Family etc..
What’s the number one goal or project you’re committed to bringing to life this year?
Pick and focus on a few critical things off your list. You may want to ask yourself what small projects are going to give you the highest and most meaningful results in your life.
If you have a hard time with this, consider these 3 filters down below.
Filter # 1
What is the payoff for making this project happen?
Filter # 2
How will this project ultimately benefit you and your loved ones?
Filter # 3
Who would you have to become in order to make this goal or project reality?
I’m in the process of creating a goal exchange sheet for all my subscribers to help keep you on track and organized, I will keep you updated when I will be sending them out.
Your Turn,
What is one goal that are you looking to accomplish this year?
Will you be trying out the goal exchange this year?
I’m open to hearing your comments, tips or suggestions!
