It was such an honor to work with Jennifer Austin, publication director at La Jolla LifeStyle Magazine. Jennifer asked me to put a few falls trends together to be featured in the September issue and of course I couldn’t say no to that. Anyone that knows me knows that this is right up my alley.
This season is all about the big, bright, and bold 70’s! With the reemergence of deep color and bold patterns, it’s a fun way to create funky statements that are inspired by some of the newest looks seen on the hottest runways of NYFW. With the right tweak and a touch of personal style, you can dress up (or down) any of these trends with the snap of a finger.
Need some help shopping for the latest trends? Well, I got you covered in today’s post!
Deep bold colors: chocolates, pumpkin-like oranges, and especially RED! After NYFW Fall 2017 it’s apparent that red is the top color of the season and exudes a wide range of emotions effortlessly. From the sense of power in a red lip and perfectly tailored pea-coat to a euphoric feeling of love in a sultry flirty dress, red is a color that’s definitely here to stay.
Velvet: Where do I even begin with one? Bursting back on the fashion scene last year, velvet has made a place in my heart and certainly in my closet. Reminiscent of the early 90’s, velvet has a way of adding an artistic/hip look to an otherwise simple laid back look or can be worn to create a level of sophistication as a simple dress. It’s one of those fabrics that you don’t have to try so hard, your look will be achieved very simply.
Metallic tones: Whenever I see colors with a metallic tone I always seem to associate them with holidays like Christmas and especially New Years. This season it doesn’t look like people are waiting that long to start rocking the hell out of this look.
70’s plaid is so in this season especially on the NYC runway. It definitely gives you that extra edge that you can switch up wearing to work or outside work. By the way Marc Jacob this 2017 fall/winter has a lot hot plaid pieces that you don’t want to miss.
